This is a supurb copy, very clean with original color.

This early map of Asia was taken from the 1575 Latin edition of Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. Out of scale and somewhat out of place, this map includes the eastern side of Egypt including the cities of Cairo and Alexandria, The Arabian peninsula identifing the cities of Medina and "Mecha", Iran, Iraq, India, as well as identifying the Himalayas. It also offers a very distinct Northeast Passage. Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598) was the "Father of Modern Cartography". He was the first to develop a compendium of maps to form a modern atlas, Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, or “Atlas of the Whole World" which was produced for over 40 years.
