Laurie and Whittle took over the cartography business of Sayer and Bennett in 1794. This composite map in two sheets was taken from the important atlas A new universal atlas, exhibiting all the empires, kingdoms, states, republics, &c.; &c.; in the whole World; being a complete collection of the most approved maps extant; . . . and is based on the work of Thomas Kitchin.
